FAMILIAR STRANGERS is the practice of Louise McLeod: anthropologist, artist, and storyteller working at the intersection of research, photography, and ethnographic fieldwork.

The work is concerned with how people live inside systems they cannot fully see: surveillance, displacement, the quiet entanglements of urban life. It asks what ethical choices look like when everything feels compromised, and what it means to care within conditions we did not choose.

Based in a workshop on the street in Paris (75010), the practice stays close to the ground: the 10th arrondissement, its streets, gestures, and encounters. No single discipline can hold what this work demands. Care is the method.

FAMILIAR STRANGERS est la pratique de Louise McLeod : anthropologue, artiste et conteuse travaillant à l'intersection de la recherche, de la photographie et du terrain ethnographique.

Le travail s'intéresse à la façon dont les personnes vivent à l'intérieur de systèmes qu'elles ne peuvent pas pleinement voir: surveillance, déplacement, les enchevêtrements silencieux de la vie urbaine. Il interroge ce à quoi ressemblent les choix éthiques quand tout semble compromis, et ce que signifie prendre soin dans des conditions que nous n'avons pas choisies.

Installée dans un atelier sur rue à Paris (75010), la pratique reste au plus près du réel : le 10e arrondissement, ses rues, ses gestes, ses rencontres. Aucune discipline ne peut contenir seule ce que ce travail exige. Le soin est la méthode.
